Sohmer was one of Steinways biggest competitors and had their showroom in New York right up the street from Steinway. This is a piano manufactured with a wide tail and other attributes of the great Sohmer pianos of the past by one of the world’s largest piano manufacturers Samick which incidentally owns over 30% of Steinway!

Most Asian made pianos emulate Yamaha since they are the largest piano manufacturer in the world. That’s why it is so rare to have a piano that celebrates the American scale design with its warm sound. This is also a Korean made piano in contrast to the lower quality Samick made pianos (including Seiler) which are made in Indonesia.

The beauty of the furniture on this piano is something to behold. From the intricate wood grain to the details of the carved legs and pedal lyre, this is a magnificent piece of furniture. But it is much more than that. The tone of the piano has a bell like tone in the treble usually associated with great European pianos like Bosendorfer and Bechstein, with a fat bass you expect out of a Steinway or Mason & Hamlin. The action is also highly refined with a medium weight.

It also has the QRS PianoMation CD2000 System which plays the piano with expression along with audio accompaniment from the sound system mounted invisibly beneath the piano.

This instrument is in immaculate condition and has been detailed, regulated, voiced, tuned, lubricated and is on an extremely high level of performance.

If you appreciate the great American pianos from the past, here is an instrument that celebrates the qualities of American pianos from the Golden Era in phenomenal condition.
