Blüthner is known as the Piano with the Golden Tone. While there is a distinction between American and European piano sounds generally, Blüthner is truly unique in its sonic character. American pianos are known for their fat, blending sound typified by Steinway and Mason & Hamlin. Great European pianos such as Bösendorfer and Fazioli have a tone sometimes described as bell-like with crystal clarity and focus.

While Blüthner has the clarity and focus you expect from a great European piano, it also has a thickness and dark quality to the tone that sets it apart from all other pianos. This is a rare and desirable combination of tonal attributes.

This piano can accurately be described as a time traveler. Perhaps one out of every 10,000 pianos from this era would not require substantial work, or would not have had major work would performed at some point in the past. This piano appears to be all original and in remarkable condition.

It is immediately obvious from observing this piano that it has lived in a gentle environment and has barely been played over the years. More importantly, the soundboard has phenomenal crown indicated by the singing, sustained tone throughout all registers.

The keytops on this piano are in such phenomenal condition, it is only under extreme close inspection that you realize that they are the original real ivories!

The case has been refinished with the same classic sprayed lacquer, hand-rubbed finish like the original finish. All of the intricate woodwork is intact – not replaced.

New Blüthner pianos of this size without art-case details cost over $100,000. Finding a vintage instrument made in Blüthner’s factory in Germany well before it was destroyed in WWII in this kind of condition is almost impossible – yet here it is in all its glory.
