This is a Baldwin piano which was produced at a glorious time in Baldwin’s history. It is a California piano which has had very light use. It looks and plays on a very high level. The action has good felt and the strings produce a vibrant tone. The Baldwin Model R underwent design refinement in the 1970’s with Bechstein (which Baldwin owned at that time). The tone is rich and singing. This particular piano is fresh and young because it benefitted from the gentle California climate and has played so little. It has been regulated, voiced and fine tuned to play on the highest level. This is a gem of a piano. The scale design offers a rich bass and vibrant tone throughout all registers.
