This is a rare, gorgeous art-case hand-made top-tier piano produced in Germany. It is modeled after the historic piano Grotrian-Steinweg produced for Clara Schumann, the wife of Robert Schumann. It has been meticulously rebuilt in Europe fairly recently with the finest new parts available including
- Renner Hammers
- Renner Shanks
- Strings
- Tuning pins
- Pinblock
- Knuckles
- Whippens (Repetitions)
- Damper Felts
The case has been refinished with such fine work, that it appears like a black mirror. The instrument plays on the highest level and is in an elite league of manufacturers along with Hamburg Steinway, Bösendorfer and Fazioli.
Grotrian-Steinweg was started from members of the original Steinway family. Heinrich Steinway emigrated to New York to start Steinway & Sons. Friedrich Grotrian teamed up with Heinrich Steinway’s son Friedrich to build pianos. They are still hand-built in Germany today and are regarded as one of the world’s finest pianos.
This piano also has QRS CD2000 modern player system which is tucked away out of sight for expressive playing from a huge library of music.
