Sohmer & Co. was one of the most respected American piano companies and a competitor of Steinway in New York. This piano was owned by the
Metropolitan Opera singer, Robert Nagy
The piano was very well cared for. It has been restrung, and has new key bushings and front rail bushings for a precise feel. There is plenty of good felt on the hammers. Our technicians have brought it to a level suitable for the most demanding musician.
The gorgeous woodgrain is in beautiful condition. This kind of craftsmanship is available in just a handful of American and German pianos produced each year and cost well above $100,000.
If you appreciate the great American pianos that are increasingly rare, and you connect with the warm sound they produce, you will treasure this piano for years to come.
