The Baldwin SF-10 is one of the great American semi-concert grand pianos of all time. It features German Renner action and Baldwin’s patented Accu-just hitch pins.
In 1972, the SF-10 was the second piano to come from the combined teams of Baldwin along with the top-tier German piano manufacturer Bechstein which Baldwin owned at the time. The 9-foot SD-10 had taken the piano world by storm in the late 1960’s and became the choice of concert pianists the world over.
The 7-foot SF-10 followed soon after and was also met with critical praise. The combination of superb design and uncompromising craftsmanship resulted in a world-class piano the likes of which had never been available before.
This piano has new hammers, key bushings, front rail bushings, action felts and new bass strings. The case has also been refinished with the same classic hand-rubbed, sprayed lacquer finish that the piano had from the factory. It has been regulated and voiced to a level suitable for concerts and recording.
The action is smooth and responsive. The tone is clear, yet warm. The sustain is exceptional going all the way to the top octave of the piano – something extremely unusual and desirable since it offers a singing sound when playing melodies.
This piano is equally suited to performance spaces, recording studios, teaching studios or as the ultimate piano for your home. It’s not too big for your living room, yet offers phenomenal sound and touch which prepares you for playing on other concert level instruments.
