Baldwin Concert Grand

At the time this piano was made, a large percentage of concert pianists in the world were Baldwin artists. They were arguably making better pianos than Steinway at that time.

This piano has been masterfully rebuilt with German Abel hammers, new pinblock, Mapes strings (which were the original strings on the piano, as well as on Steinway), and the piano has also been refinished and the plate has been re-gilded. In fact, everything has been restored to like new condition.

What makes Baldwin pianos so desirable is the rare combination of clarity and warmth. There is focus, yet the tone is fat. These elements are rarely found together on any other pianos.

The action weight is medium and is very responsive to every nuance of touch. What makes this piano so special is the range of tone, from whisper quiet melodies that sing, to roaring bass rarely heard on any piano.

The original soundboard has been refinished and has phenomenal projection and sustain. This is a truly world-class piano which plays on the highest concert level.
