Finished in a rich, warm Satin Walnut, this piano represents the “Golden Age” of Steinway production—reimagined and revitalized through an uncompromising, ground-up restoration.

While many pianos are merely “refurbished,” this Model A has been rebuilt. We have preserved the soul of the instrument while replacing every critical component to ensure it performs with the precision of a brand-new Steinway.

The Restoration Highlights

The Exterior: A Masterpiece in Wood

• Art-Case Cabinetry: The stunning walnut case has been meticulously repaired and refinished in a classic Lacquer Satin (Semi-gloss), highlighting the complex, swirling grain patterns unique to this era.
• Hardware: All original brass hardware has been removed, cleaned, and buffed to a mirror shine, providing the perfect contrast to the deep walnut finish.
• The Plate: The cast-iron plate has been removed and refinished to the iconic Steinway gold, ensuring the “jewelry” of the interior matches the beauty of the exterior.

The Soul: Structural Excellence

• Reworked Soundboard: The original soundboard has been reworked and refinished to restore its crown and resonance, providing that legendary “Steinway Growl” in the bass and a singing, bell-like treble.
• New Custom Pinblock: To ensure world-class tuning stability for decades to come, we have fitted a new custom-made pinblock.
• Bridge Work: Both the bass and treble bridges have been recapped, ensuring perfect string termination and maximum energy transfer to the soundboard.
• New Strings & Pins: Re-strung with premium bass and treble strings and fitted with new Number 2 tuning pins for a tight, reliable feel.

The Action: Precision & Nuance

• Complete Action Rebuild: This piano features a brand-new action stack, including new hammers, shanks, knuckles, and backchecks.
• Back Action: We’ve replaced the action felts and the damper felts for silent, surgical-precision damping.
• Expert Regulation: The action has been fully regulated by our master technicians to provide a responsive, buttery touch that allows for the most delicate pianissimo and the most thundering fortissimo.

Why the Model A?

At roughly 6′ 2″, the Steinway Model A is often called the “perfect” grand piano. It is large enough to provide a bass response that rivals much larger concert grands, yet its proportions allow it to fit comfortably in a home or studio.
