The Baldwin SF-10 was one of the great American semi-concert grands along with Steinway & Sons model B and Mason & Hamlin BB. This instrument is in phenomenal condition!
Baldwin was the #1 American piano at the time this piano was manufactured. They were arguably making better pianos than Steinway at this period of time when Steinway, under CBS ownership, didn’t have the consistent quality they had at other periods of time. Baldwin was regularly found on concert stages the world over.
The SF-10 came out in the early 1970’s just a few years after the introduction of the 9-foot concert grand SD-10 which took the music world by storm. Both pianos feature full German Renner actions and technologies not found in any other pianos such as the Accu-just hitch pins which optimize downbearing enabling a more singing tone in the treble than on other pianos.
This piano is all original and in remarkably good condition with only moderate play. So everything is performing on a high concert level. It is one of the last American pianos with real ivory keys which also indicates the gentle life this piano has had.
