A unique piece of American piano history, this French Provincial Chickering 125 was designed by Bob Pierce of the famous “Pierce Piano Atlas”. The piano industry had recovered from the great depression to the furthest extent by the time this piano was built. By the 1960s, the piano had finally found its way back into the majority of living rooms across the country.
This piano was built by the Aeolian Corporation which also manufactured Mason & Hamlin and was inspired by Chickering’s “Quarter Grand” design which revolutionized the piano industry by introducing a smaller grand piano to the market. The mindset was small piano, big sound and this Chickering does a remarkable job of that and is petite while maintaining a robust sound that is sure to please. It has been gone through inside and out by our technicians and has been regulated and voiced for optimal performance and tone.
The action is quick and light with a sound that is rich and crisp in every register despite its diminutive size. It has seen very little use over the years and is sure to be around for a long time with proper care and maintenance. If you’re looking for a small piano that will look beautiful in just about any setting you put it in, as well as a piano that has a rewarding tone, this may be the perfect piano for you.
