1921 Knabe Ebony Grand Piano: Rebuilt

This piano was restored in 2016. It is in excellent condition, lightly played, kept in a climate-controlled environment and regularly serviced.

There is so much to tell about this classic American piano. First, Knabe pianos are sought after for their high quality of construction and rich tone. This 6 foot 4 inch grand has a big bass and warm, singing treble. The condition of the instrument is phenomenal!

The piano has been restrung, and there are new hammers, damper felts, and string felts. The case has also been refinished with a hand rubbed, sprayed lacquer finish – the classic American finish. The keytops are organic (not plastic) and in great condition as well. This reveals the gentle history of this piano that the original keytops are still there in such good condition.

It is a real pleasure to encounter a piano that has obviously had an incredibly gentle life. It is the soundboard that is the true prize of this piano. Not only are there no cracks, but the crown reveals a long sustained tone in the treble, and a rich, powerful bass. The action is smooth and quiet.
