This is a New York made Steinway piano that was rebuilt and refinished relatively recently. The piano has new whippens, shanks, flanges, knuckles as well as new Steinway hammers. It was restrung with new tuning pins. The keytops are original, not plastic, which you can’t get anymore on pianos. The condition of the keytops reveals so much about a piano. They can get chipped through carelessness, or they can fall off in extreme climates. So, seeing a piano with the keytops in such great shape indicates a very gentle life this instrument has had through generations.

The model M has a far more rewarding sound than the smaller Model S. It is one of the most popular scale designs of Steinway since it can fit almost anywhere a baby grand can fit, yet has a much richer sound, particularly in the bass.
