Boston Pianos are designed by Steinway and produced in Japan by Kawai. While Boston pianos were never produced in the U.S.A., they have design cues from some of the great American pianos from years ago. There are some notable differences between Kawai pianos and Boston pianos even though they are manufactured by the same company.
First, about this specific piano, it is in spectacular condition inside and out! The piano has had little play and our technicians have brought this instrument to a level suitable for the most discerning pianist. There are many elements of design that are taken right from Steinway, such as the duplex scaling which enhances tone by allowing the non-speaking length of the strings to resonate sympathetically. Steinway also has Kawai building the action out of wood instead of utilizing composite and plastic parts which are found in Kawai pianos. They also have a wide tail which produces a rounder sound that is less punchy.
The action on this piano is regulated to a high level and since all the parts are fresh, it’s possible to get extremely precise expression out of this piano. It will also respond lightning fast to anything you perform on it. It has a gorgeous case with rich wood tones.
For a fraction of the cost of a New York made Steinway, you can enjoy a piano that plays homage to the great American pianos from the past with this Boston grand piano from Steinway & Sons.
