This is a Japanese piano made for the North American market. It is in very good condition with very moderate wear. It has new Mapes bass strings (same type of strings used on Steinway pianos) for a rich sound. The action is regulated to play well for any player from beginner to advanced.

The finish looks good as well. The tone is not too bright because the felt on the hammers is fresh and they have been voiced to have a warm sound.

It can be confusing shopping for Yamaha pianos because there are so many models. This piano shouldn’t be confused with the Indonesian made GB1 which is a smaller piano that is designed as a price point, promotional instrument. You will be rewarded with a richer sound on this piano as well as a big step up from the no frills, bottom of the line Indonesian instruments.
