This is one of the most beautiful works of Brahms performed on a hand-built August Forster grand piano manufactured in Germany. It was a piano we restored and sold which I enjoyed playing. It inspired this performance of this gorgeous work. Hope you enjoy it!

Wonderful performance, Robert! I performed Op.118 on my Senior Recital and the set has always remained one of my favorites, especially No. 2. I recall going into my teacher’s studio and being greeted with “How about a little Brahms today?” Then with a twinkle in his eye, he added, “Of course, you realize that there is no such thing as a little Brahms”
Bravo!!
Brahms along with JS Bach not easy to do well.
I hope I passed the audition!
You passed Robert.
Good to hear it!
I am so glad I happened to catch you playing this wonderful piece. I played it on my senior recital for my Bachelor of Arts degree in music with emphasis on piano performance. It brought back such great memories. You play it with lovely expression.
Bravissimo Robert! Una delle più belle composizioni di Brahms suonata con grande espressione e tocco delicato su un grande pianoforte della più autentica tradizione tedesca. Uno splendido video, grazie!
Roberto
Beautifully played!
Thank you
Your playing now makes me want to listen to more Brahms. Thank you.
There is so much great Brahms. Here is the 1st movement of the F minor Piano Quintet with Rubinstein with the Guarneri Quartet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJyDZJK2uro&ab_channel=ArthurRubinstein-Topic The whole work is phenomenal!
Try Brahms intermezzo opus 117 in B flat minor as well, this is also great.
Here is a performance of this piece from my father’s CD for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP2R_u9nVg4
Simply gorgeous. Took my breath away. Thank you, Robert, for sharing this!
Thank you – such great music!
Une interprétation très musicale par un pianiste toujours aussi passionné. Bravo et merci pour toute votre implication dans la promotion de la musique classique.
I appreciate your comment, “A very musical interpretation by a still passionate pianist. Congratulations and thank you for all your involvement in the promotion of classical music.”
Thank you–lovely piece!
So glad you like it!
I can hear Morton Estrin in a firm voice, “Bravo!”
That is the nicest compliment! And you remember his booming bass voice.
